Grattan Township, Mich 07-2010 Six people were injured, three in critical condition, when a car ran a stop sign and was hit by a truck late Friday night July09, 2010. The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. at Lincoln Lake and 5 Mile Rd NE in Grattan Township in the County of Kent.
Four teenagers in a1996 Chevrolet Lumina were traveling west on 5 Mile Rd when the driver ran a stop sign pulling out in front of a 1999 Chevrolet S-10. The truck was traveling north on Lincoln Lake and crashed into the Chevrolet Lumina.
A 17-year-old driver of the car, from Howard City was taken to Spectrum Butterworth with non-life threatening injuries. The backseat passenger, also 17-year old, from Ionia was air-lifted by Aeromed to Spectrum Butterworth in critical condition.
Two other passengersin the Lumina, both 16-year-old females, were critically injuredand were transported by Rockford Ambulance Paramedics to Spectrum Butterworth's Trauma Center.
The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet S-10 were taken to United Memorial Hospital in Greenville also by an additional Rockford Ambulance Paramedic crew with non-life threatening injuries.
Kent County Sheriff Deputies investigated the accident scene as well as assisting in the treatment of the injured.
