STROKES---CVA
CVA IS DEFININED AS AN CEREBAL VASCULAR ACCIDENT
Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arms or legs, particularly on one side of the body.
Warning Signs for a Stroke
Confusion, difficulty in speaking or understanding what others are saying.
Vision problems, such as sudden trouble seeing from one or both eyes.
Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
A sudden severe headache that does not have an obvious or known cause.

Sudden nausea, fever or vomiting that develops much more rapidly than with viral illness.
Fainting, a period of decreased consciousness or convulsions.

African-Americans and the elderly have higher-than-average stroke rates.
A mini-stroke, or transient ischemic attack (TIA), is a temporary blockage of blood flow to part of the brain. It usually resolves itself in minutes and doesn't cause damage. But recognizing one is crucial because TIAs are strong predictors of major strokes.
