Jesus, beloved Savior, in remembering the terrible acts of 9-11-01, we recognize our great need for your guidance and protection. We have painfully learned that our country is vulnerable and that violence can disrupt both individuals and nations. We pray then for healing for all the people whose lives were shattered in the attacks.  We Pray for those who defend our freedom.  We pray for wisdom for our national leaders. for our country and our world.  Jesus, beloved Savior, as we prepare for war please hold us in Your loving hands.  Amen

GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In light of comments & events and the Non-Support by France and Germany  and Protestors I felt this would be an excellent time to share the Editorial Below
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there.  I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries into help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.  Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, war-mongering Americans. I’d like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them?  Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them.

When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and! I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of them

On the evening news, it was reported that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington, DC, that military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.

They refused. "No way, Sir!"

Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.

The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

TRIBUTE TO OUR MILITARY

The Reagan years saw a restoration of prosperity, and the goal of peace through strength and layed the foundation to the end of the Cold War
ON FEBRUARY 06, 2004 PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN TURNED 93.  ON JUNE 05, 2004 PRESIDENT REAGAN DIED
Dear Civilians,
We know that the current state of Affairs in our great nation have many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you that can’t join, you may still lend a hand. Hear are a few areas we would like your assistance:

1) The next time you see an adult talking or wearing a hat during the playing of the National Anthem....remind that we are safer because of our military.

2) When you witness firsthand someone burning the American Flag in protest... Kick their butt

3) Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise quietly pull them aside and explain how these Vets fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on many sacrifices these vets made to make this Nation great.

4) If you were never in the military DO NOT pretend that you were, Wearing camouflage, telling others that you used to be "Special Forces" and collecting GI Joe Memorabilia might have been ok if you were still seven, Now it will only make you look stupid you can’t take credit for a real hero

5) Next time you come across an Air Force member do not ask them "Do you fly a jet?" Not everyone in the Air Force is a Pilot. Such ignorance is to prominent (children are exempt)

6) If you witness someone calling the U.S. Coast Guard a non military inform correct them the Coast Guard is a valid entity of the Armed Services

7) Roseanne Barr's singing of the National Anthem is not a blooper...It was a disgrace and disrespectful.

8) Next time Old Glory goes by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her...

9) What Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War makes her complicate to aiding the enemy and guilty of treason. And not worthy of receiving a nomination for "Woman of the year"

10) Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or veteran. We are Americans and we all bleed the same regardless of our party affiliation. The President is our Commander in Chief regardless of our political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet. All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out.
11) "Your mama wears combat boots" never made sense to me. If she did she would most likely be a vet and, therefore, a member of the military.

12) Bin Laden and the Taliban are not communists, so stop saying "Let's go kill those Commies!! "Stop asking us where he is!” Crystal Balls are not standard issue in the military. Terrorist run and hide give us the chance to do our job and stop criticizing.

13) Flyboy, Jarhead, Grunt, Squid etc are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or a vet you have not earned the right to use them. Doing so shows disrespect to our military.

14) Last but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving, and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of sailors and troops far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would not as strong as it is.

MY NAME IS OLD GLORY

I am the flag of the United States of America.
My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over great institutes of learning.
I stand guard with the greatest military power in the world. Look up! And see me!

I stand for peace - honor - truth and justice.
I stand for freedom
I am confident - I am arrogant
I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners
My head is a little higher
My colors a little truer.
I bow to no one.
I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped - I am saluted - I am respected
I am revered - I am loved, and I am feared.

I have fought every battle of every war for more than 200 years: Gettysburg, Shilo, Appomatox, San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome, the beaches of Normandy, the deserts of Africa, the cane fields of the Philippines, the rice paddies and jungles of Guam, Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Guadalcanal New Britain, Peleliu, and many more islands.

And a score of places long forgotten by all but those who were with me. I was there. I led my soldiers - I followed them. I watched over them. They loved me. I was on a small hill in Iwo Jima. I was dirty, battle-worn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me, and I was proud.

I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free. It does not hurt, for I am invincible. I have been soiled, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country, and when it is by those with whom I have served in battle - it hurts. But I shall overcome - for I am strong.

I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stand watch over the uncharted new frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have been a silent witness to all of America's finest hours.

But my finest hour comes when I am torn into strips to
be used for bandages for my wounded comrades on the field of battle, When I fly at half mast to honor my soldiers, And when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving mother at the graveside of her fallen son.

I am proud.

My name is Old Glory.

Dear God - Long may I wave.

STARBUCKS SAYS NO TO SOLDIERS IN IRAQ
Subject: Starbucks

Dear everyone:
Please help us by spreading the word and getting the truth out in the open.

Soldiers get no support from Starbucks. I don't think that we should support them if they don't support us.

Recently U.S. Marines serving in Iraq and supporting this country in OIF, wrote to Starbucks because we wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffee and to try to score some donated coffee grounds.

Starbucks wrote back telling our Marines thanks for their support in their business, but that they don't support the War and anyone in it and that they won't send us (Marines) the Coffee.

So as not to offend them we should not support purchasing any Starbucks products.

As a member of our armed forces, I am home on leave but will once again I am being deployed in Iraq again.  I am writing to you the U.S. citizens and patriots, as I feel this must be shared and made public.

I know that this War might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street to street and house to house for what my fellow soldiers and I believe is right.

I and the troops on the ground appreciate your support

WEST MICHIGAN SOLDIERS WHO HAVE GIVEN     THEIR LIVES IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM
I have received several e-mails over the last several months regarding my tribute to our men and women who serve in the United States Military, asking if I am currently in or have ever served in the Military.  The answer is sadly no, I am in not a current or previous member of our Military.  My page is a continuous tribute to the men and women who have served currently or previously.  I would never disrespect the true American Hero’s serving or have served our country, by claiming to be a member when I was not.  Our Military Personnel who have defended and protected and country are very special individuals.  Dave’s EMS Headquarters renews it’s Support, Respect, and Thanks to the Soldiers who are, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.  I also thank the many military personnel who continue to sign the Guestbook located on this site page, and who have shared their commitment to their various deployments throughout the world.  May God Bless You, and Keep you safe.

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice.  I'm here every night."

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.

My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,

And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue...  an American flag.

I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."

"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Thank you President George Bush
Thank you President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Our U.S. Military
For 2,688 days from September 12th 2001 through mid day January 20, 2009, America has been safer. Our Emergency Medical Providers, Law Enforcement, and Firefighters have been provided with the resources to respond to any Disaster caused by Terrorism or Natural Disaster.

Our Military’s men and women have engaged the terrorist both in Afghanistan, and Iraq keeping them confined.  Many servicemen and women have given their lives defending our homeland; there have been so many heroic acts of bravery that have never been reported by the so called media.  Many who serve in our Military have deployed numerous times, these deployments create hardships and their spouses and children, yet they show true support and pride for them.

Both this website Dave’s EMS Headquarters and my family are extremely proud and very thankful to all who are serving today and defending this Nation.  We truly support these men
and women who serve in the Air force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and the Navy.  God Bless you for your service, sacrifice, and your dedication to the United States of America.
